What Are The Signs Of Teen
Depression?
Teen depression usually comes in two types. It could be a
simple moment in which they are just being upset, perhaps over
a break up. Or, it could be more continuous, intense depression
that may even destroy lives. There are several things a parent
can do to keep their child away from this condition. Teen
depression is a serious matter and must be handled properly and
with care.
Identifying the signs of teen depression?
Recognizing the signs of depression in your teenager is very
important. Parents
should be on the look for any of these
conditions.
·
Not doing anymore the things that they used to enjoy
doing.
If you notice
that they are not doing the things used loved, then you know
there are serious depression problems in here.
·
Not being able to sleep.
If they wake up
and feel tired, then it is not okay. They may be feeling very
stressed out and losing lots of sleep, which can worsen the
condition even more.
·
Staying away from loved ones, friends and social
situations.
This is one of
the main key signs of depression. Most teens like to be social
and require constant interaction. If they don’t feel like being
social, they could be depressed.
·
The ongoing blues.
It is true that
we all feel bad every now and then, but when teens are
depressed they feel bad most of the time. You will need to help them in
these situations.
Teen depression that is serious can complicate things even more
by adding more problems. Teens feeling depressed also
are at risk of doing drugs or drinking
alcohol. In
addition, teens feeling depressed often don’t do well in
school. They
could retreat so much into themselves that they
eventually become ill or may even try to hurt
themselves.
One very scary thing about teen depression is that sometimes
they will hide it very well. Some will face their problems
and will tell you, but the ones that have too many will most
likely hide them from you. If this is the case, then by
the time you realize about their problems it may be too
late. You should
always try to make it your business to know what they are going
through and give them a lot of support. This way they will listen to
you and will not get scared to tell you about their
problems.
